Kristin Gillette Named New Director of Athletics at Park University

Kristin Gillette, a seasoned figure in college athletics administration, has been appointed as the next Director of Athletics at Park University. She is set to begin her role on October 28, 2021, taking over the Pirates athletics programs following the retirement of Claude English.

Gillette's career in athletics spans over two decades, with notable stints at MidAmerica Nazarene University and The Raiders, where she helped lead the team to Missouri Class 3A state championships in 2005 and 2006.

At MidAmerica Nazarene University, Gillette provided administrative oversight of the Heart of America Athletic Conference and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics opening round championships. She also managed game operations for various sports and served as liaison to the Association of Student-Athletes Leadership Council.

Gillette's work extended beyond the university, as she served as liaison to the New Member Site Visit Committee from 2015-17 at the NAIA. During her tenure, she also managed national championships at the NAIA for three years and worked with councils and committees focused on student-athlete health and well-being. One of her most significant achievements was creating the Champions of Character Live 5 program at the NAIA.

In addition to her administrative roles, Gillette has coaching experience. She was the girls basketball head coach at The Barstow School in Kansas City, Mo. for two years and a girls basketball assistant coach at The Pembroke Hill School in Kansas City, Mo. for two years. She also spent time as the sports director at the Paul Henson Family YMCA in Prairie Village, Kan.

Gillette's educational background is impressive, with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from William Jewell College and a Master of Arts degree in sports administration from Gonzaga University.

At Park University, Gillette has been instrumental in the partnership with Opendorse, a platform that supports student-athletes in managing Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities, ensuring consistent NIL support for all Park University athletes across dual campuses.

Gillette's appointment at Park University marks a new chapter in her career, and she is eager to contribute to the university's athletics program.
