Uniting in Harmony: Global Performances of "Wind of Change" on October 3rd Everywherehippie
On the 3rd of October, the heart of Frankfurt am Main will resonate with music as the song "Who Do We Want to Be" by Elias Knubben is set to be performed at the Römerberg. This performance is part of the "3rd October - Germany Sings and Sounds" initiative, a nationwide event aimed at honouring the peaceful revolution in Eastern Germany on German Unity Day.
This year, the initiative is scheduled to take place across various locations, with over 250 venues registered for concerts. A map of all locations can be found online, inviting everyone to join in the celebration.
The "3rd October - Germany Sings and Sounds" initiative carries messages of unity, freedom of opinion, and standing up for peace. Alongside "Who Do We Want to Be", other popular songs like "Wind of Change", "Over Seven Bridges", and "Greek Wine" will be sung during the event.
The winning song of a song contest held for the occasion of the 35th anniversary of German reunification, "Who Do We Want to Be" by Elias Knubben, will be performed in Frankfurt am Main on 3rd October as part of the central citizen's festival.
Anke Rehlinger (SPD), the Minister President of Saarland and President of the Bundesrat, is the patron of this year's "3rd October - Germany Sings and Sounds" initiative. Meanwhile, Andreas Bovenschulte, the Mayor of Bremen, will assume the patronage of the initiative in 2025, symbolising Bremen's Bundesrat presidency under the motto "Many strengths - one country".
