US-Bangladesh Defense Exercise Kicks Off in Chittagong

The United States defense forces have arrived in Chittagong, Bangladesh, marking the commencement of the latest joint defense exercise between the two nations. This is the second set of exercises between the United States and Bangladesh, following Exercise Tiger Lightning-2025 earlier this year.

The US forces, consisting of personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, have been staying in Bangladesh since their arrival on September 10 via US Bangla Airlines from Dhaka. They are stationed at the Bangladesh Air Force Zahurul Haque base in Chittagong, where the exercise is taking place.

The US Air Force is using the Hercules craft, a tactical transport aeroplane normally based at the US Air Force's Yokota station in Japan, during the exercise. The Sri Lankan Air Force has also joined the exercise, adding another dimension to the humanitarian aid and disaster relief efforts.

The current US-Bangladesh defense exercise is a continuation of a series that started over a decade ago and is continuing throughout the Indo-Pacific. The partners consider this exercise a way to strengthen defense cooperation, interoperability, and humanitarian response.

During Operation Pacific Angel 25-3, the US Air Force, Sri Lankan Air Force, and Bangladesh Air Force are collaborating on various activities. These include medical assistance and community outreach, aimed at improving the lives of the people in the region.

The exercise, which will run from September 15 to September 18, is part of the ongoing 'Operation Pacific Angel 25-3'. Regional ties have been backed by the United States, with this exercise being a testament to the growing cooperation between nations in the Indo-Pacific.

On the same day as the US troops visited the Patenga Air Base of the Bangladesh Air Force, an Egyptian Air Force transport plane landed at Chittagong's Shah Amanat International Airport. The Sri Lankan Air Force is also participating in 'Operation Pacific Angel 25-3'.

At least 120 US personnel are staying in Bangladesh for the duration of the exercise. The US Navy, Army, and Air Force are participating in the current US-Bangladesh joint defense exercise, demonstrating a united front in their efforts to strengthen defense cooperation and humanitarian response capabilities.
