USA Announces U20 Men's National Team Roster for 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup
The United States Soccer Federation has unveiled the roster for the U20 men's national team, who will be representing the USA at the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile.
Tab Ramos, the manager of the US Olympic men's team last summer, will once again lead the young squad. The team will gather in Chile on September 22, marking the start of their preparations for the tournament.
The roster is a mix of youth and experience, with 11 players born in 2005, eight in 2006, and two in 2007. Some of the names on the list include Zavier Gozo, a rising star for Real Salt Lake, and Diego Kochen, the backup goalkeeper for Barcelona.
Two players, Josh Wynder and midfielder Niko Tsakiris, are returning for the 2025 edition after featuring in the 2023 tournament. Wynder, who plays for Benfica, and Tsakiris, from San Jose, have shown promising performances in their respective leagues.
Five call-ups are currently playing in Europe - two in Germany, one each in Italy, Portugal, and Spain. Benjamin Cremaschi, currently on loan with Parma, is one of those European-based players.
In addition to the 20 players on the roster, Chris Applewhite and Edward Davis will join the team as training players before the tournament. Peyton Miller and Zavier Gozo remain eligible for the 2027 U20 World Cup cycle.
The U.S. U20 men's national team roster draws from 19 clubs, with 16 players representing 12 Major League Soccer teams. Luke Brennan, a player from Atlanta United, has also shown flashes in MLS this season.
Since the U.S. first appeared in the 1981 FIFA World Youth Championship, 44 players who wore the crest at the U20 level have gone on to feature at senior World Cups. The FIFA U20 World Cup has long served as a launchpad for rising talent, both worldwide and within the U.S.
The 2025 U20 World Cup will be a significant opportunity for the young players to showcase their skills on the international stage. With a blend of youth and experience, and a strong foundation in MLS, the U.S. U20 men's national team is poised to make a strong showing in Chile.
