United States called upon to impose sanctions on Russia, as per Germany's foreign minister's demand.

The Trump administration has been announcing new sanctions against Russia for several months, following a series of deliberate provocations by the Russian government. One of the latest incidents involved Russian drones violating Polish airspace, prompting heightened military readiness and support measures from NATO members such as Germany and France. The additional sanctions were officially introduced by EU governments following the event in early September 2025.

The European Union, coordinating its efforts with NATO, has been finalizing another package of sanctions against Russia. German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has been vocal in his calls for the United States to introduce additional sanctions against Russia. He stated that anyone who supports freedom, especially the United States, must act now. Wadephul urged Washington to "finally implement" the announced sanctions.

Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine has called on the White House to take a clear position on sanctions against Russia and to provide security guarantees for Ukraine. These calls come after a recent incident in which a Russian FPV drone attacked a minibus in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, injuring a person.

In a separate development, President Trump has proposed that NATO countries should stop purchasing Russian oil to trigger serious sanctions against Russia. Trump has also rejected Putin's proposals about ending the war against Ukraine.
