United Manchester proposes surprising offer for £150 million-valued Alexander Isak, whose bid by Newcastle for Liverpool has allegedly been declined
In the ongoing transfer saga, Manchester United and Liverpool have shown interest in Alexander Isak, the 25-year-old striker currently recovering from a minor thigh injury at his former club, Real Sociedad.
Isak, who joined Newcastle United last summer for a club-record £63 million, is valued at an impressive £150 million by the Magpies. Despite a bid from Manchester United exceeding £100 million, Newcastle has thus far rejected any offers to sell their prized asset.
Manchester United, determined to add a striker to their ranks before the transfer window closes, have reportedly enquired about signing Isak this week. However, the player has expressed a desire to explore options this transfer window, with Liverpool considered a leading potential destination. Yet, no formal offers to Newcastle have been received beyond the interest from Liverpool.
Liverpool, who have recently signed other forwards such as Hugo Ekitike, are still considering quality additions. Meanwhile, Isak remains contracted to Newcastle, with three years left on his deal.
Newcastle, despite qualifying for the Champions League, are reluctant to sell Isak, especially after a difficult pre-season. Real Sociedad, should Isak move on, would receive 10% of any transfer fee above €70 million plus solidarity payments.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have also expressed an interest in signing Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. Arsenal targeted Sesko before signing Viktor Gyokeres last week, but it seems United are now favouring Sesko over other potential transfer targets such as Ollie Watkins.
Isak, however, has not participated in his team's pre-season tour, training alone at Real Sociedad amid uncertainty over his future. It remains to be seen if any formal offers will be made for the striker and whether he will secure a move away from Newcastle before the transfer window closes.
Alexander Isak, with Liverpool being considered a leading potential destination, might find himself moving from Newcastle United, especially since no formal offers for Isak exceeding the interest from Liverpool have been received. Meanwhile, Manchester United, in addition to their interest in Isak, are also eyes on Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, seeming to favour him over other potential transfer targets such as Ollie Watkins.
