United manager Amorim denies suggestions that a meeting with Ratcliffe implies turmoil within the club
Manchester United, currently ranked 14th in the Premier League, are under pressure to improve, according to media speculation. The team's recent form has been less than stellar, with just one win in four Premier League games and a shock League Cup exit to League Two (fourth-tier) Grimsby.
Despite the challenging start to the season, United's Director of Football, Jason Wilcox, and boss, Ruben Amorim, remain optimistic. Amorim believes that United's performances have been good, but they need to be more clinical in both defending and attacking. He acknowledges the need for results to improve.
Amorim's sentiments are echoed by co-owner Jim Ratcliffe, who visited Manchester United's Carrington Training Ground for a regular meeting, according to Amorim. Ratcliffe's visit comes ahead of a crucial home fixture against Chelsea at Old Trafford.
The team is desperate to bounce back from a 3-0 defeat at Manchester City and improve their standing in the league. Amorim believes the team is in a better place than last year, and he thinks the team is getting better, despite the lack of reflected improvement in results.
Chelsea, currently in fifth place in the Premier League, will provide a formidable challenge. Amorim joked about receiving a new contract offer from Ratcliffe during a recent meeting, but he is well aware of the pressure the team is under. He stated that losing, especially in the beginning of the season after last season, is a problem for United.
Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount are back and available for selection for the game against Chelsea. Amorim's hope is that their return will strengthen the team and help them secure a much-needed victory. Omar Berrada, the CEO of Manchester United, will no doubt be hoping for the same.
As the season progresses, United will be under more pressure than any other club in the world, according to Amorim. The team will need to rise to the challenge and deliver the results that the fans, and the owners, are expecting. Only time will tell if they can do it.
