United Kingdom manager Radosław Sesko envisions reviving Manchester United's legendary status, striving to guide the team back to past glories.
In a significant move for Manchester United, forward Benjamin Šeško has signed a five-year deal with the club following a £74m transfer from RB Leipzig. The 21-year-old Slovenian striker is set to make his Premier League debut against Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday, August 17.
Šeško, who is comfortable playing in spaces behind the defence, has shown impressive goal-scoring ability throughout his career. His journey began at Domžale before joining Red Bull Salzburg at 16, where he spent two seasons on loan with FC Liefering, scoring 22 goals in 44 matches. He made his Salzburg first-team debut in January 2021 and went on to win three Austrian Bundesliga titles and one Austrian Cup with the team.
In July 2023, Šeško transferred to RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga for around €24 million. During two seasons there, he played 87 games and scored 39 goals, becoming Leipzig’s top scorer in the 2024–25 season with 21 goals across all competitions. He also won the DFL-Supercup with Leipzig.
Šeško's arrival at United is part of the club's efforts to improve their attack, as they have also signed Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. United were beaten in the Europa League final by Tottenham last season, bringing up their 20th defeat in all competitions, their most since losing 22 in 1973-74.
The young striker's high-profile transfer to Manchester United was reportedly for a fee around £73.3 million (€76.5 million), reflecting his rising status as one of Europe’s most promising young strikers. Šeško's decision to join United was influenced by the club's rich history, which he described as "unbelievable."
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who played for Manchester United between 2016 and 2018, played a significant role in influencing Šeško's decision. The young forward identifies Ibrahimovic as a role model during his career, admiring his high kicks and power strikes. Ibrahimovic scored 29 goals and provided 9 assists during his time at Manchester United.
Šeško's combination of youth, height (about 194-195 cm), speed, and goal-scoring prowess established him as a top striker before his move to Manchester United. Internationally, Šeško became the youngest player to appear for Slovenia’s senior national team in 2021 at age 18 and soon after their youngest-ever goalscorer. By August 2025, he accumulated 41 caps and scored 16 goals for Slovenia, including key contributions in UEFA Nations League and European Championship qualifiers.
As United prepare for the new season, Šeško's arrival is a promising sign for the club's future. The forward expressed confidence in helping United return to their glory days, stating, "We're just even more complete and complete. It's just a matter of time when we can fly high again."

Sports enthusiasts across Europe will eagerly anticipate Benjamin Šeško's debut in the Premier League, as he joins Manchester United's attack in a multi-million pound move from RB Leipzig. Having already showcased his prolific goalscoring ability in various leagues and competitions, the 21-year-old Slovenian forward now looks forward to testing his skills against the best in the Premier League and helping Manchester United reclaim their former glory in European leagues.
