United Kingdom imposes economic restrictions on Kyrgyz businesses over links to Russia
In a move aimed at maintaining the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine, the United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on several entities and individuals, including the Kyrgyz LLC "Inter Style Plus".
Registered on November 30, 2017, in the Kyrgyz Republic, LLC "Inter Style Plus" has been linked to actions that allegedly undermine or threaten Ukraine's sovereignty by providing financial, economic resources, goods, or technologies to Russia.
Prior to the UK sanctions, the corporate re-registration of LLC "Inter Style Plus" took place in the United Kingdom on December 5, 2023. Shakirov Nurlan Bekovich is listed as the director of the company.
The UK sanctions also target other Kyrgyz companies, such as Grinex, Tengricoin, and Old Vector, and three entities: Altair Holding, Capital Bank of Central Asia, and the Luxembourg-based Altair Holding.
Altair Holding, headed by Kanatbek Chalkabayev, a Kyrgyz citizen, is among the entities targeted by the UK sanctions. Chalkabayev is also on the sanctions list.
The sanctions involve the freezing of assets and a ban on trust services. The UK has taken similar action against Leonid Shumakov, head of the "A7A5" project, a ruble-pegged cryptocurrency reported to have passed approximately $9.3 billion over several months.
The "A7A5" project is also on the sanctions list. The UK has imposed sanctions on three individuals in total: Chalkabayev, director of Altair Holding, and Shumakov, head of the "A7A5" project.
Capital Bank of Central Asia, an LLC, is also among the entities targeted by the UK sanctions. The bank's involvement in the sanctioned activities remains unclear.
These sanctions are part of a broader set of anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the UK in response to Russia's actions against Ukraine. The UK government continues to monitor the situation closely and will take further action as necessary to uphold international peace and security.
