Unique London's Entertaining Spot: Corner Corner emerges as a potential standout in the city's entertainment scene
New Recreational Space Opens in Canada Water, London
Corner Corner, a vibrant mixed-use venue, has recently opened in Canada Water, London. The space is part of the larger Canada Water Masterplan, a regeneration initiative led by British Land and AustralianSuper, aimed at revitalizing Canada Water as a cultural, social, and recreational district.
Situated near the cultural and leisure hub, Corner Corner boasts London's largest indoor vertical farm, integrating sustainable agriculture within an urban setting. This innovative feature highlights the space's commitment to sustainability and community engagement.
The history of the area ties back to the Canada Water docks, operational since the late 17th century and expanded in the 19th century to support timber imports, reflecting the industrial heritage of the site before its redevelopment.
Key features of Corner Corner include a rotating line-up of DJs playing jazz, funk, soul, and disco music on Thursday evenings, a variety of restaurants, and a flexible space divided by floor-to-ceiling curtains. The bar and stage are clad with Douglas Fir panels, and the interior and exterior of the building, which resembles a shed, are primarily a leafy green hue, with natural timber extensively used throughout.
Live jazz performances and ticketed shows are held every Friday and Saturday, and the space hosts a rotating cast of culinary residents, including Chick'N'Sours, Masa Taco, Jou Jou's Bites, and Sireli, a cafe and restaurant focused on Armenian small plates and flatbreads. Fresh, locally-grown produce sourced from Corner Corner's indoor vertical farm will be used in the dining experience and may supply other restaurants outside the property in the future.
Alex Sprogis, an architect from Broadwick, oversaw the project. He drew inspiration for the space from the intimate cafe settings of the 'cool jazz' period of the 1950s and '60s, aiming to create something educational, enriching, accessible, and family-friendly. Broadwick, a London and New York-based firm, is responsible for the conceptualisation and development of Corner Corner.
Corner Corner is located at Maritime St, London SE16 7LL, UK. For more information, visit cornercorner.com. The website features details about events, dining options, and the latest news from the space.

Corner Corner represents a blend of modern urban regeneration with historical context, emphasizing sustainability, leisure, and community engagement within the Canada Water Masterplan framework. It complements immersive exhibitions such as the "Legend of Titanic" experience, further enhancing the recreational and community-focused offerings of the space.
