Uniper Marathon 2025 in Düsseldorf scheduled for Sunday.
The Uniper Düsseldorf Marathon made a triumphant comeback in 2023, bringing a full programme of races to the city. This year's event included children's runs, half marathon, relays, and marathon, attracting a diverse group of runners who celebrated their achievements and showcased competitive performances.
First held in 2016, the marathon has become a significant event in Düsseldorf’s sports calendar. The event draws local and regional running enthusiasts, including marathon runners, half-marathoners, and relay participants.
The course is known for its relatively flat layout, running through Düsseldorf’s cityscape, making it suitable for a fast race and accommodating varied runner levels.
As with many major urban marathons, partial road closures along the route and adjusted public transportation services are likely to be in place to ensure the safety of runners and spectators. Participants and residents are advised to consult official event or city transport websites shortly before race day for the most up-to-date information.
The first start is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. at Joseph-Beuys-Ufer opposite the Tonhalle. The Family Zone will be set up on the market square in front of the town hall from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., providing entertainment for children and families.
The award ceremonies for the half marathon will take place at 10:30 a.m., for the marathon at 12:30 p.m., and for the marathon relays at 2 p.m. in the finish area at the Lower Rhinewerft. The award ceremonies for the Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf Kids Cup will take place at 10 a.m. on the market square.
The finish line is at the Lower Rhinewerft at Rathausufer 19. Runners will receive a free drink upon presentation of their start number at the Run & Beat party, which will take place at the Rheinterrasse, Joseph-Beuys-Ufer 33, from 12 p.m., open to everyone.
More than 16,000 runners have registered for the event, with 4,200 for the marathon and 6,300 for the half marathon. The half marathon finish time is 11:15 a.m., the marathon finish time is 3:30 p.m., and the marathon relay finish time is 4 p.m.
The race director is Sonja Oberem. Traveling to the city centre by car on Sunday will be difficult due to closures, and Maps.Düsseldorf will display the closures, with information on detours provided. Public transportation is recommended, with only the U-Bahn lines operating, and the U71 being redirected from the Wehrhahn S station to the Staufenplatz. Detailed schedules and connections are available from the Rheinbahn. Important starting points are "Tonhalle/Ehrenhof" and "Nordstraße" with the exit at Inselstraße. For the destination or the target area, it is the "Heinrich-Heine-Allee" stop.
Some parking garages may not be accessible due to these closures. Numerous streets will be closed during the races, including the Rhine tunnel from 4:30 a.m. The event takes place in Düsseldorf, Germany. Around 1,200 volunteers will ensure a smooth operation and provide refreshments for the participants.
