Markgraf, a product of Union Berlin's youth academy, has been with the club since 2016, progressing through the ranks from the U12s to the U19 team. Over the years, he has made 57 competitive appearances for Union’s youth teams, including four in the UEFA Youth League against esteemed academy teams like Real Madrid, SSC Napoli, and SC Braga.

Offensively adept for a defender, Markgraf has scored four goals and provided four assists in his youth career, showcasing his attacking prowess from the left-back position. In 2022, he moved into Union Berlin’s boarding school, where he balanced his sporting development with education, recently completing his Abitur (German secondary school leaving certificate) at the Flatow-Oberschule, a partner school of the club.

Horst Heldt, Managing Director of 1. FC Union Berlin, praised Markgraf's development and emphasized that he has earned a place in the extended professional squad. Heldt highlighted the club's intention to allow Markgraf to continue learning, gain professional experience, and gradually integrate into the first team environment.
