Jogging in the Woods: Baumgart Sweats Press Conference - Union Berlin’s Baumgart misses press conference after losing track of time

Union Berlin’s head coach Steffen Baumgart missed his team’s pre-match press conference before the game against FC Augsburg. The incident happened due to a simple scheduling error—one that left reporters waiting. Meanwhile, the club remains unbeaten in their last three matches and sits comfortably in mid-table.

Baumgart had been out for a run in the woods when he lost track of time. By the time he returned, the press conference was already delayed. The session eventually began half an hour later than planned.

The 44-year-old took full responsibility for the mix-up. He apologised to the media, explaining that punctuality is normally a priority for him. His focus now shifts to the final match before the winter break. Baumgart has led Union Berlin since January 2025, with his contract recently extended on the same date this year. His immediate goal is clear: secure a win against Augsburg to close out the first half of the season on a high note.

The missed press conference caused a brief disruption, but Baumgart’s apology and explanation resolved the issue. With Union Berlin in solid mid-table form, the team now prepares for their last match before the break. A victory would reinforce their positive run heading into 2026.
