Union Berlin is not interested in retaining Davie Selke, with the player being available for transfer.
Rayan Philippe, a 24-year-old Frenchman, has caught the eye of several Bundesliga clubs following his impressive performance in the 2.Bundesliga for Eintracht Braunschweig.
Philippe, who scored 13 goals and provided 6 assists in the previous season, has now officially joined Hamburger SV after signing a contract that includes potential future bonuses. The transfer fee for the striker was finalized at €2.5 million.
Several Bundesliga clubs expressed interest in Philippe, with Hamburg ultimately securing his signature. Among the other clubs interested were FC Heidenheim, Werder Bremen, Union Berlin, and 1. FC Köln, all of whom were reportedly keen on strengthening their squads.
Mainz 05 had initially tried to sign Philippe but pulled out of the deal, which seemed to frustrate the player. However, the departure of Benedict Hollerbach to Mainz may have influenced 1. FC Union Berlin to drop out of the race for Philippe.
With his goalscoring prowess and ability to create chances, Philippe seems to fit well into the attack of several Bundesliga clubs, including 1. FC Cologne, Hamburger SV, SV Werder Bremen, SC Freiburg, 1. FSV Mainz 05, and 1. FC Union Berlin.
As Philippe begins his new chapter with Hamburger SV, the club will be hoping that he can continue his impressive form in the top flight and help them secure a strong position in the Bundesliga.
