Teunz Fire Department: A Year in Review

The Teunz Fire Department had a busy and successful year, as evidenced by the numerous events, exercises, and deployments they attended.

The annual general meeting saw a high turnout, with the 46 active members of the department in attendance. The meeting was marked by reports on the department's financial health, physical fitness, and firefighting skills. The treasurer, Erwin Biersl, reported on a healthy financial situation of the association, while Deputy Youth Leader Tobias Eckert spoke about the exceptional physical fitness and firefighting skills of the department's youth.

One of the highlights of the year was the participation of the Teunz Fire Department in various festivals and events within and outside the community. They organized events such as "Advent in the Stodl" and the garden festival on Corpus Christi, and were involved in the "Jugendflamme three" in Teunz, where the youth cared for 80 participants and equipped members aged 17 and above with radio pagers.

The youth of the Teunz Fire Department also played an active role in deployments. During these operations, the breathing apparatus wearers had to perform at their highest level, leading to the melting of uniform parts. Despite the challenging conditions, the youth demonstrated their high level of training and seamlessly transitioned from the youth fire brigade to the active ranks.

Commander Andreas Brandstätter reported on numerous exercises and 38 deployments, 26 of which were "technical assistance." Eckl was informed that a new fire truck is likely to be acquired "this decade" due to the current one approaching "thirty" and becoming increasingly prone to repairs.

The Teunz Fire Department's new homepage offers a current weather report for the Teunz area, making it easier for the community to stay informed about the weather conditions.

Mayor Norbert Eckl and former Mayor and Honorary Citizen Josef Klier expressed their appreciation for the Teunz Fire Department and its youth work. Eckl stated that the care and help for others is the most valuable asset a society has.

The following sports, though not traditionally associated with a fire department, were showcased during the youth deployments and events: firefighting and physical fitness.

Despite the challenges faced during the deployments, the youth of the department demonstrated their enthusiasm for sports, particularly in mastering the challenging conditions while wearing the breathing apparatus.
