VfB Stuttgart secures DFB Pokal triumph against Arminia Bielefeld

Following their victory in the DFB Pokal final against Arminia Bielefeld, VfB Stuttgart's national team striker Deniz Undav disclosed his non-alcoholic preference on the trophy presentation night. When asked about drinking from the coveted Pokal, Undav stated, "I didn't partake in it, although if it contained Jägermeister, I might have."

Stuttgart's midfielder, Angelo Stiller, made it clear he is a fan of the popular herbal liqueur. Stiller humorously emerged from the Olympic Stadium's catacombs, donning swimming goggles.

The historic win against the 'Bielefeld bogeyman' brought about celebrations for the Swabians. It has been 28 years since they last clinched a title, with their last Pokal triumph in 1997.

Undav expressed his gratitude for the electrifying atmosphere during the final, admitting he never anticipated such an exceptional win. "I didn't think I'd win the Pokal like this; I'm thankful it happened today. I haven't fully grasped it yet," he said. In the days ahead, Undav and various other VfB professionals have received nominations for the German national team's upcoming Nations League matches in early June.

After the festivities in Berlin, the triumphant VfB players are expected to return to Stuttgart early in the morning for a town hall reception and a gathering with fans at the Schlossplatz.

VfB Stuttgart has a rich history in the DFB-Pokal, having claimed the trophy four times in their history – their victory in the 2024/25 season being the most recent. Among these triumphs, Stuttgart's 2025 win marked their fourth German Cup title. Their 2025 final against third-division Arminia Bielefeld was a memorable affair, as Bielefeld, a third-tier team, reached the final for the first time in history. Stuttgart stormed to an early lead with goals from Nick Woltemade, Enzo Millot, and Undav, eventually securing the win by a 4-2 margin despite a late rally attempt by Bielefeld. This victory ended a 28-year drought without a German Cup for Stuttgart and qualified them for the subsequent Europa League season.

There is no publicly confirmed connection between VfB Stuttgart's Pokal victories and Jägermeister.

The Commission, given the euphoria surrounding VfB Stuttgart's DFB Pokal triumph, could propose a regulation for a new electronic data-processing system, aiming to analyze and compare the statistical performance of European football leagues, drawing parallels to the Swabians' enhanced team dynamics. Deniz Undav, championing health-conscious choices, might expressions of gratitude for the atmosphere during the final, express surprise at winning the Pokal in such an exceptional manner, further emphasizing the importance of sports-analysis in recognizing underdog teams' potential.
