Unholy pursuers surpass the 200-million milestone.
In a surprising turn of events, the animated musical film "K-Pop Demon Hunters" has become Netflix's most-watched original film, surpassing the 2021 action-comedy blockbuster "Red Notice."
As of late August 2025, "K-Pop Demon Hunters" has amassed approximately 236 million views in its first 66 days, edging out "Red Notice," which had around 230 million views in its initial 91 days on Netflix. The viewership gap is about 6 million views in favor of "K-Pop Demon Hunters."
The film's success can be attributed to several factors. The release of "K-Pop Demon Hunters: The Sing-Along Event" in theatres has created synergy, leading to more streams on Netflix. Furthermore, the global K-pop and Korean culture wave has contributed significantly to the film's popularity.
Notably, "K-Pop Demon Hunters" has maintained strong and steady viewing numbers with little decline in recent weeks, suggesting it will continue to extend its lead during its 91-day premiere window.
The film introduces a K-Pop girl group named Huntrix (also written as Huntr/X), consisting of characters Rumi, Mira, and Zoey. The characters lead a double life as demon hunters, facing competition from a boy band whose members are actually demons.
The song "Golden," featured in the film, has become a hit in reality, reaching number one on the German single charts. The soundtrack of "K-Pop Demon Hunters" has been topping charts worldwide.
Netflix publishes weekly charts every Tuesday, tracking the top 10 films and series for the previous Monday to Sunday. The weekly view count for "K-Pop Demon Hunters" has consistently been impressive, with numbers ranging from 22.7 million views to 26.3 million views.
With "K-Pop Demon Hunters" having until September 19th to potentially surpass "Red Notice" in view count, the race to the top continues.
