Minnesota Vikings' Rondale Moore Suffers Season-Ending Knee Injury

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver and return specialist Rondale Moore will miss the entire 2025 NFL season due to a knee injury, as confirmed by the team on Tuesday. The injury occurred during the preseason opener against the Houston Texans on Saturday.

Moore sustained the injury during a punt return in the second quarter of the game, when he was tackled awkwardly along the sideline. The Vikings officially placed him on season-ending injured reserve following MRI results confirming the seriousness of the injury.

The injury marks the second straight year Moore has been sidelined for a full season due to knee injuries. In 2024, he missed all of the season after a dislocated right knee while playing for the Atlanta Falcons, an injury that required surgery.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell described the situation as heartbreaking, emphasizing the emotional toll on the team and Moore himself. O'Connell assured Moore that he would not be alone during his recovery.

In his career, Moore has played in 39 games (23 starts) and has recorded 135 catches for 1,201 yards and three touchdowns, all with the Cardinals. A 2021 second-round pick by Arizona, Moore was looking to revive his career with Minnesota.

With Moore out, the Vikings will need to find alternative options for punt returning and receiving duties for the 2025 season. The team has not announced a replacement for Moore as the starting punt returner, nor have they made any changes to their receiving corps following Moore's injury.

In other roster moves, the Vikings also waived linebacker Brian Asamoah II. Center Zeke Correll was waived by the Vikings with an injury designation after breaking his ankle Saturday against Houston.

As the 2025 season approaches, the Vikings will look to regroup and find ways to compensate for the loss of Moore. The team will continue to support him during his recovery and look forward to his return in the future.
