The Unique Cinematic Experience at Pforzheim's Tunnel Cinema

The Community Cinema in Pforzheim's Schlossberg is a unique cinematic destination that aims to make the world of cinema accessible to everyone, according to Mayor Sibylle Schuessler. This one-of-a-kind cinema is located in the Arlinger Tunnel, a historic site on Schlossberg hill.

Visitors are greeted with a distinctive atmosphere, reminiscent of a bunker on a distant planet, thanks to the mysteriously lit Tunnel Cinema. The seating area is situated in the next emergency bay of the tunnel, providing an intimate setting for the cinematic experience.

The program at the Community Cinema is varied and interesting. This Saturday, the cinema will continue with the film "The Little Mole" at 4 pm and "Safety Last! Just the Skyscraper" at 7 pm.

The live-scoring for the silent films is a highlight of the Tunnel Cinema experience. The duo Eberhard Budziat, Werner Küspert, and Dietmar Fuhr will be responsible for the live-scoring, adding an extra layer of entertainment to the films.

Trumpeter Eberhard Budziat also coordinates visitor entry for safety reasons, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all.

The Community Cinema has a rich history. Before its current location, it was known as the Golden Anchor and the Cinema cinema in the Jaeger passage. Mayor Peter Boch and his wife Monika Boch, tunnel patron, have been instrumental in the cinema's journey. They welcomed visitors with two historical silent films, "The Journey to the Moon" and "There it is."

The Tunnel Cinema at Schlossberg is known for its focus on alternative, art-house, or independent films. It is appreciated for combining film culture with an unusual venue, enhancing the atmosphere and making it a cultural highlight in Pforzheim.

The Arlinger Tunnel, where the Tunnel Cinema is located, was constructed in 2023. Access to the cinema is via Dietlinger Street at the entrance to the West Tangent in the direction of Wilferdinger Height, through the north portal of the tunnel.

The Community Cinema has been a part of Schlossberg for 20 years and currently welcomes around 100 visitors. State President Sylvia M. Felder congratulated those responsible for the Community Cinema on its 20th anniversary, recognising its significant contribution to Pforzheim's cultural scene.
