The match started on a challenging note for DEG, with Ingolstadt taking an early lead through Morgan Ellis at the 3 minutes and 18 seconds mark. However, DEG showed resilience and began to increase their pressure, despite earlier struggles.

DEG's first goal came with 67 seconds left in the first period, courtesy of Tyler Angle. Alec McCrea provided the assist, setting up a crucial equalizer for DEG.

The momentum shifted in DEG's favour, and they took the lead at 29 minutes and 24 seconds, thanks to Tyler Gaudet's goal. Gaudet slid the puck through Devin Williams' legs, giving DEG the advantage.
