Underdog advances to day 6 - Osnabrück surpasses all others in expansion

The sixth matchday of Germany's 3. Liga saw some exciting action, with MSV Duisburg making history by winning all six games, a first in the league's history.

MSV Duisburg is currently on track for promotion to League 2, and they reinforced their promotion ambitions with a series of impressive victories. The team's next opportunity to consolidate its second place comes against Schweinfurt 05.

Elsewhere, the match between 1. FC Saarbrücken and Schweinfurt 05 is scheduled for Friday evening. The trip to Rostock was not fruitful for TSV 1860 Munich fans, as their team lost 1:2. The low attendance can be attributed to the matches being scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, clashing with top Champions League games, and poor attendance at away sections. Despite this, 1. FC Saarbrücken managed to attract 11,829 spectators, 250 of whom were away fans from Schweinfurt, for their home game against 1. FC Saarbrücken - SSV Ulm.

Viktoria Köln - TSG Hoffenheim II saw a smaller crowd of 2,755 spectators, with 12 away fans from Hoffenheim. The match between Rot-Weiss Essen and VfL Osnabrück had a total of 18,047 spectators, with 850 away fans from Osnabrück and 1,156 from Essen.

Unfortunately, an accident occurred during an approved choreography for the old floodlights at the Ostseestadion, resulting in several injuries, including a nine-year-old child who was seriously injured but not in a life-threatening condition.

In the English week (englische Woche) in the 3. Liga, VfL Osnabrück had the highest number of traveling fans with 2,216 supporters. The away fans for the first English week in League 3, along with the total number of spectators and travel distance between cities, are as follows:

    1. FC Saarbrücken - SSV Ulm: 11,829 spectators, 250 away fans, 302 km travel
  • Viktoria Köln - TSG Hoffenheim II: 2,755 spectators, 12 away fans, 276 km travel
  • Rot-Weiss Essen and VfL Osnabrück: 18,047 spectators in total, 850 away fans from Osnabrück, 1,156 from Essen
  • SV Wehen Wiesbaden - SSV Jahn Regensburg: 3,753 spectators, 220 away fans, 351 km travel
  • Waldhof Mannheim and VfB Stuttgart II: 120 away fans
  • TSV 1860 Munich and Hansa Rostock: 90 away fans from Munich, travel distance of 789 km
  • FC Schweinfurt 05 and TSV Havelse, two promoted clubs, are currently at the bottom of the League 3 table but are not far from clubs like Alemannia Aachen, Erzgebirge Aue, Jahn Regensburg, and SSV Ulm.

The sixth matchday of League 3 recorded fewer than 100,000 spectators, significantly fewer than usual. The league is hoping for a return to normal attendance levels in the coming weeks.
