Thomas Rew, the Rising Star on England's Cricket Scene, Ready to Lead U19s Against India
Prepare yourself for some exciting cricket action as the 17-year-old Tom Rew, little bro of England Test prospect James Rew, takes the helm as captain of England U19s, facing off against India later this month. This comes shortly after his older brother captained the senior Lions team against India A ahead of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
Tom Rew recently inked his first professional contract with Somerset and made his senior debut for the club against Surrey in the T20 Blast. He's no stranger to the England U19s squad, having played for them last year against Sri Lanka U19s and making a half-century in their youth Test match against South Africa earlier this year.
Who's in the Squad?
The England U19s squad boasts some familiar names, with Rocky Flintoff included, following his double centuries against Sri Lanka U19s last summer. He's also toured with the senior Lions side and scored another century against a Cricket Australia XI in Brisbane.
Joining him will be James Minto, Durham's versatile all-rounder. Making just his fifth first-class game this season, he scored a half-century after being promoted to open the order for the first time. Primarily picked as a left-arm pacer, Minto took five wickets against a Zimbabwe A side on Durham's pre-season tour earlier this year.
