Undefeated Season Dream Ends: West Genesee Stops Fayetteville-Manlius' Streak
The dream of an undefeated season in Section III Boys Soccer has come to an end. West Genesee's 1-0 victory over Fayetteville-Manlius (FM) ensured that no team would match Nottingham's perfect record from last fall. FM, who had been eyeing a flawless season, fell short against West Genesee. This defeat marked the first loss for FM in the 2022 season, ending their hopes of replicating Nottingham's impressive feat from the previous year. In the 2021 Boys Soccer Championship of Section III, West Genesee was also the team to break a perfect record. However, I couldn't determine which team defeated them to claim the championship title that year. With West Genesee's win, the possibility of an undefeated season in Section III is now off the table. FM's loss, while disappointing, doesn't diminish their strong performance throughout the season.
