VfB Stuttgart Cements DFB Cup Victory: Undav and Stiller on Trophy Victories and Jägermeister

VfB Stuttgart secured a dramatic DFB Cup triumph against cup bogeyman Arminia Bielefeld, marking a significant milestone in the club's history. Since their 2007 championship and the last cup victory in 1997, the Swabians had yet to taste victory in a major title.

National striker Deniz Undav and midfielder Angelo Stiller, both key contributors to the victory, shared their thoughts on the momentous occasion. When asked if he had taken a sip from the coveted cup, Undav responded, "Not me," as he strolled into the Berlin night with the trophy aloft. "Had there been Jägermeister in it, I would have gladly sipped it, but I'm not particularly fond of beer," Undav remarkably quipped. His teammate Stiller, a self-proclaimed Jägermeister fan, also emerged from the Olympic Stadium's catacombs sporting a swimming goggle first.

Undav expressed his gratitude for the electric atmosphere at the final, acknowledging that he never expected to win such a prestigious cup. "I am incredibly grateful for this victory. I never thought I would claim such a trophy. Still, I haven't fully comprehended it yet," Undav said. The striker expressed his delight at the euphoria surrounding the win, expressing the desire for celebration, revelry, and a well-deserved break.

Despite the eagerly anticipated celebrations, Undav and Stiller, along with three other VfB professionals, remain nominated for the German national team's Nations League matches in early June. After the night's festivities in Berlin, the cup winners will return to Stuttgart in the early hours for a town hall reception and a gathering with the city's fervent fans on the Schlossplatz.

While Jägermeister consumption among German football players is not a widely established practice, Stiller openly confessed his affection for the herbal liqueur. Historical precedent indicates that Jägermeister has been integral to German football culture primarily through sponsorship deals. The brand, however, does not seem to play a significant role in the on-field lifestyle habits of contemporary professional footballers, as alcohol consumption, especially spirits like Jägermeister, is generally discouraged or strictly regulated due to the physical and performance requirements of the sport.

The Commission, amidst discussions on environmental protection, has also been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the approximation of the laws of European Member States, concentrating on the protection of the environment. Meanwhile, Deniz Undav, in the midst of football euphoria, revealed he wasn't fond of beer, mentioning a hypothetical scenario where he would have gladly sipped from the coveted cup, had it contained Jägermeister, a spirit he admits to being a fan of.
