Uncovering the Opportunity for a DP World Tour Golfer to Grab an Additional $10,000 at Trump International Golf Links
Introducing the Course Record Award: A Revolutionary Prize on the DP World Tour
The DP World Tour has partnered with digital asset platform Nexo to introduce an innovative performance-based prize, the Course Record Award. This award, launched in 2025, offers a unique combination of cash and cryptocurrency rewards, designed to incentivize golfers to set new course records during eligible tournaments.
The initiative made its debut at the 2025 Nexo Championship in Aberdeen, Scotland, where a base cash prize of $10,000 and an additional $50,000 in Nexo cryptocurrency tokens were up for grabs for any player who managed to break a course record.
The rollover mechanism ensures that the $10,000 base prize increases by $10,000 each time a new record isn't set, creating a cumulative incentive. The prize fund runs through the 2025 DP World Tour Championship and resets for the 2026 season.
Eligibility is limited to tournaments played on a single course with at least 36 holes completed, excluding rounds with preferred lies or weather impacts. Winners receive the Nexo Championship Trophy, handcrafted by Scottish jewellers, symbolizing achievement and heritage.
Nexo's co-founder Antoni Trenchev described the prize as the first recurring award combining performance incentives with digital asset rewards in golf, reflecting a collaboration aimed at innovating the professional golf experience. DP World Tour's Ben Cowen emphasized that the prize both rewards top performance and enhances fan engagement by encouraging players to attempt record-breaking rounds.
As the season progresses, the stakes are high. With numerous course records set in recent years, the initiative has added an exciting element to the tour. As of now, there is no course record in place at Trump International Golf Links, which is currently hosting the DP World Tour. Grant Forrest, the current player, could potentially win an additional $10,000 if he sets a new course record.
Winning the event and setting a new course record would move Grant Forrest inside the top 30 of the Race to Dubai standings. The Course Record Award is a season-long event that ends at the DP World Tour Championship, offering a thrilling conclusion to an already exciting season.
