Uncovered Football Scam in Pakistan: Players Arrested by FIA in Fpicture of alleged fraud
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Gujranwala, Pakistan, made a significant breakthrough in dismantling human trafficking networks on September 15, 2023, with the arrest of Malik Waqas. Waqas, a resident of Pasroor, Sialkot, is the main suspect in a case involving the illegal trafficking of 17 men to Japan, using fraudulent means.
According to the FIA, multiple cases have been registered against Malik Waqas. The suspects, who claimed affiliation with the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) and carried forged NOCs from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were deported by Japanese immigration authorities after their scam was uncovered during airport questioning.
Each of the 17 men obtained a 15-day visa through a fabricated invitation from a Japanese club, Boavista FC. In January 2024, Malik Waqas sent these men to Japan using the same method. However, no new information about the fate of these men or any individuals sent to Japan after January 2024 is currently available.
The investigation reveals that Malik Waqas created a fake club named "Golden Football Trial." The men were trained to mimic professional players to avoid suspicion during immigration checks. The FIA Gujranwala Director, Muhammad Bin Ashraf, stated that Waqas's arrest is a major step in combating human trafficking networks that exploit Pakistanis under the guise of sports.
The FIA has launched further investigations to track down the suspect's facilitators. No new information about the charges or cases registered against Malik Waqas is provided, nor is there any information about his current status.
It is also worth noting that Malik Waqas charged each participant between Rs4 million and Rs4.5 million. The investigation is focused in Pakistan, and no new information about the clubs or organizations involved has been disclosed.
The FIA's Composite Circle in Gujranwala continues to work diligently to ensure the safety and security of its citizens, particularly in matters involving human trafficking and fraudulent activities. As the investigation progresses, more information may become available regarding this complex case.
