Unconquered Amiloc Prepares to Resemerge at Ascot for King George, as Top Steadfast Stablemate Aims for Irish Derby Restitution
Unbeatable Amiloc Set to Return to Ascot for King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes
Get ready for a thrilling showdown at Ascot next month, as the undefeated Amiloc is set to make a comeback in the £1.5 million King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes! The three-year-old continued his winning streak in the King Edward VII Stakes last week.
Trainer Ralph Beckett, alongside owner-breeders David and Vimy Aykroyd, have slated Amiloc as a 14-1 contender for the prestigious race. Despite concerns about the quickening ground, Amiloc crossed the finish line ahead of Zahrann by three-quarters of a length in the Group 2 event.
Patrick Cooper, the Aykroyds' racing manager, shared his insights:
"While quick ground may have been a challenge for Amiloc, he bravely handled it. However, I reckon it's unlikely we'll ask him to face such conditions again in the future."
With a course-and-distance win under his belt, the team believes the King George makes the perfect fit. Cooper stated:
"We're heading to the King George, especially since he's a course-and-distance winner. He's managed to find an extra gear or two, giving us confidence to push his limits."
But the Aykroyds' success doesn't end at Ascot. Their horse, Pride Of Arras, is prepped to compete in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby on Sunday, with odds of 8-1 in his favor. Unfortunately, Pride Of Arras didn't meet expectations in the Derby but Cooper remains optimistic:
"We ran into a tough spot with Pride Of Arras in the Derby, but I believe the Derby trip is worth another shot. Running in the Curragh seems like the best move, as the Eclipse looks much tougher."
