In a recent development, lawyer Meirman Shikeev announced on his Instagram account on August 4 that the criminal case regarding Nurlan Gayypbaev's death has been terminated. However, it's important to note that the circumstances surrounding his death are still under investigation, and there has been no definitive public confirmation that his suicide was completely free from any suspicion of third-party involvement.

Nurlan Gayypbaev's body was found in a car on the outskirts of Taldykorgan in early December 2024. The Department of Police in the Almaty region concluded that his death was a suicide, not induced by a third party.

Meanwhile, in a separate but related case, the investigation into the murder of Sherzat Polat has been under the control of Kazakhstan's Minister of Internal Affairs, Yerzhan Sadoven. The conflict that led to Sherzat's death occurred in the "Kamajay" store.

Sherzat Polat succumbed to his injuries in the hospital after sustaining knife wounds. Abzal Shynasyl, his uncle Sherzat Polat's father, was arrested for 15 days on December 11, and is accused of murder, attempted murder, and hooliganism in the Sherzat case.

Several individuals have been charged in connection with the case. Sakiev Ravil is accused of hooliganism and attempted murder, while Shyngys Belgozhayev, Darkhan Askentai, Nurkiais Ilyasov, Nurbold Toktaubaev, Azamat Toktaubaev, and Didar Kaliakhmet are accused of hooliganism involving weapons. Azamat Toktaubaev is also charged with theft.

The main accused in Sherzat's murder does not admit guilt. The ninth convicted individual, Y.D., was released under the article "Failure to report a crime." The General Prosecutor's Office has promised to find those responsible for the arson of Sherzat Polat's family home.

An appeal hearing for eight out of nine convicted individuals is scheduled for August 18. Lawyer Meirman Shikeev also stated that he would file a motion to reopen the case in the future.
