Unauthorized Auto Racing Accusations Lead to Seized License and Impounded Vehicle
Unidentified Driver in Illegal Street Race Investigation Remains at Large
A high-speed illegal street race in Schalke, Germany, on Friday evening has led to an ongoing investigation by the Gelsenkirchen Police. The incident, which occurred around 11 PM, saw three cars speeding towards the city center, with two of them, including a dark grey sports car, managing to evade the initial police pursuit.
The dark grey sports car, whose make, model, or colour was not specified in the initial police report, was one of the three cars initially noticed leaving Caubstraße onto Kurt-Schumacher-Straße. It was observed speeding away from a traffic light with squealing tires and revving engines, but was not identified by the police during the stop of the white Audi on Grillostraße.
The driver of the white Audi, a 28-year-old from Gelsenkirchen, was issued a citation and his driver's license and car were seized. However, the dark grey sports car's driver has not been identified or apprehended by the police as of the current investigation.
The suspect under investigation for involvement in the illegal street race is a 25-year-old BMW driver from Gelsenkirchen, whose car and driver's license were confiscated following a high-speed collision with a delivery van on September 4, 2025, in Gelsenkirchen-Schalke. The police suspect he participated in a forbidden car race against another unknown person.
The police pursued the white Audi and pulled it over on Grillostraße, but the dark grey sports car continued driving. The investigation into the driver of the dark grey car is still ongoing.
The Gelsenkirchen Police have initiated a criminal investigation against a 28-year-old driver in Schalke on March 28, 2025, for suspected participation in an illegal street racing event. Anyone with information about the unknown driver or car is asked to contact Gelsenkirchen Police at 0209 365 6280 or 0209 365 2160.
The police are urging the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to illegal street racing to ensure the safety of all road users.
