Unanticipated Exposure of Horst Lichter's Welding Skills
In the small town of Goch, Barbara and Gert, a married couple with a shared passion for glider piloting, recently received a warm welcome from Horst Lichter. The reason for their visit? A rare Omega Flightmaster chronograph watch that Gert had purchased back in 1974, during his days as a pilot.
The watch, now in excellent condition, has captured the attention of Sven Deutschmanek, an expert on the German TV show Bares für Rares. Upon seeing the watch, Sven expressed his admiration, calling it an "absolute full set" and "gorgeous." He estimated its value to be between 3,800 and 4,400 euros, taking into account its collectible status and desirability among vintage watch enthusiasts.
However, after a thorough inspection, Sven revised his valuation to a staggering 5,000 to 6,000 euros. This high valuation left the selling couple speechless. Sven's expertise and passion for watches were evident, even to the point where Horst Lichter, also present at the appraisal, expressed disbelief over Sven's enthusiasm, stating he even smells the tubes to identify them as Omega's.
Gert, who was in the air force, had the original purchase receipt and warranty card for the watch, which added to its authenticity. During the 2019 revision, some parts were renewed, but the dial remained original. Sven Deutschmanek, impressed by the work done on the watch, confirmed that all necessary work had been completed, as evidenced by the Omega tubes.
Gert, who had initially purchased the watch for personal use, expressed a desire to get back the cost of the 2019 revision, which amounted to 1,159 euros. The high expert valuation of the item has given the couple a new perspective on their prized possession.
Horst Lichter, who is no stranger to rare finds, expressed joy upon seeing Sven's excitement over the beautiful watch. The discovery brings joy to experts like Sven, and the value of such finds continues to grow, making them a source of excitement for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
