Unanticipated Choices for Schalke 04 Coaching Staff Spark Controversy

Schalke 04 Appoints Miron Muslic as New Coach, Riling Plymouth Argyle

England's Plymouth Argyle has expressed frustration after revealing that head coach Miron Muslic will be departing for a second-division German club, FC Schalke 04. The Austrian coach, who had only been in charge of Argyle since January, was not among the notable names being linked with the German outfit.

In a statement, Plymouth Argyle noted that despite implementing structures and processes to support Muslic and his coaching staff in their Promotion bid, verbal promises from Muslic suggested a commitment to the English club. However, the coach has shown a desire to speak with Schalke 04, abandoning the team that now languishes in the second division.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had previously reported that Schalke would use an exit clause in Muslic's contract to secure his services. main German news outlets like Sky, "WAZ", and "Bild" also reported the transfer, with the latter stating that the agreement was already in place. Despite making 15 coaching changes since 2019 and finishing the last season in 14th place, the worst in their 121-year history, Schalke evidently believed Muslic was the right man to help them find their footing once more.

Other names had been floated for the position before Muslic's appointment, with Christian Titz (1. FC Magdeburg) and Lukas Kwasniok (SC Paderborn) being mentioned as favorites. However, Muslic now stands as Schalke's new coach, eager to make his mark on a club highlighted by its UEFA Cup victories.
