Unanimous Agreement Reached by Festival organizers and the Municipality, as reported by Rai

The Italian music industry is abuzz with excitement as it has been announced that Carlo Conti will once again helm the esteemed Festival della canzone italiana, also known as the Sanremo Festival, for its next edition.

Rai's board has approved an agreement with the Sanremo Municipality for the next three editions of the Festival, with an option for two more years. This agreement, finalised on September 3, requires Rai to pay the municipality €6.5 million annually, plus 1% of advertising revenues.

Carlo Conti, a beloved figure in Italian entertainment, will serve as the artistic director for the upcoming event. The Festival's date range has been adjusted to avoid overlapping with both the Milano-Cortina Olympics, which end on February 22, and the subsequent Paralympics, scheduled to start from March 6. The Festival will take place from February 24 to 28.

The agreement includes the establishment of a permanent observatory between Rai and Sanremo Municipality to monitor the efficient implementation of the Agreement. One of the observatory's tasks is to explore the possibility of moving the event to another location within the municipality. The music industry has long criticised the inadequacy of the Teatro Ariston, the current venue for the Festival, and it remains to be seen whether this observatory will lead to a change in venue.

The agreement also gives Rai the option to extend the Festival for another two years. Once the agreement moves to the municipal council for final approval, the details regarding the location of the next edition will likely be revealed.

In the meantime, fans of the Festival can look forward to another memorable edition under the direction of Carlo Conti. The Sanremo Festival, a cherished institution in Italian music, is set to continue its illustrious history, providing a platform for emerging and established artists alike to showcase their talent.
