Born in NYC in '59, she's the daughter of heavyweight pianists from Germany and Japan. Musical talent run in the family, with the little one starting piano and violin lessons at 4 and 5 years old!
At 11, she discovered her love for the cello, and the rest is history. A video divulges her reaction to touching the cello for the first time: "I knew: This is my instrument." When her folks landed gigs at Salzburg's Mozarteum in the early '70s, the family packed up and moved to Austria. The budding virtuoso studied under two prestigious professors at the Mozarteum, Prof. Wilfried Tachezi and Prof. Heidi Litschauer. Side note: she even formed a quartet with her sisters, touring Austria, Italy, France, Japan, and Canada!

Acing her artistic maturity and final concert exams with flying colors, she climbed the ranks, winning praises in numerous competitions, including at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and the Cassado Competition in Florence.
