UltraMann: A Brutal 50-Mile Challenge Debuts on the Isle of Man

A new 50-mile ultra running challenge, UltraMann, will take place on the Isle of Man this summer. The event, organised in support of Hospice Isle of Man, has been backed by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company. Both the ultra run and the long-standing Race the Sun relay will finish together on Douglas’s North Quay, creating a festival-style celebration for participants and spectators alike.

UltraMann will follow a tough 50-mile off-road route, weaving through parts of the island’s Heritage Trail and the scenic Raad ny Foillan coastal path. The challenge is designed to test endurance while showcasing the Isle of Man’s rugged landscapes.

The event will run alongside Race the Sun, a well-known 10-leg relay where teams race to complete a full 90-mile circuit of the island. Both competitions will conclude at North Quay in Douglas, with the quay closed to traffic to allow for a lively finish-line atmosphere. Fiona Hatton, who took over as CEO of Hospice Isle of Man in September 2025, has welcomed the introduction of UltraMann as an exciting addition to the island’s sporting calendar. The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, a long-time supporter of local endurance events, has also thrown its weight behind the new challenge, reinforcing its commitment to community initiatives.

UltraMann is set for June 27, with runners taking on the demanding course for charity. The event will raise funds for Hospice Isle of Man while offering a fresh challenge for the island’s athletes. Organisers hope the combined finish with Race the Sun will draw crowds and create a memorable day for all involved.
