October 27, 2023: A Soldier's Farewell
Service to the nation and love for animals- that was Senior Sergeant Sergiy Dubchak. On October 27, this 48-year-old hero lost his life near the village of Robotine in Zaporizhzhia region, in the line of duty during a combat mission. A catastrophic enemy missile strike took his life.
Born and bred in Vinnytsia city, Sergiy studied at School No. 22. Afterwards, he honed his skills as an automotive mechanic at Vinnytsia Polytechnic Technical College. A true entrepreneur, he ran a furniture-repair business. His passion for his work and constant pursuit of improvement endeared him to many. He shared a special bond with animals, and even during the heat of the war, they remained by his side.
On April 20, 2022, he courageously decided to defend his homeland. Serving in the 65th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, he functioned as a driver in the grenade launcher platoon.
"He executed his duties as a guardian of our country with honour, approached task completion with patriotic fervour, and remained steadfast to the people of Ukraine and their constitutional obligations. He demonstrated wise initiative when addressing matters concerning the unit's material and technical needs, and sustained the combat spirit among the ranks through personal example. Throughout the war, he consistently cared for the animals left homeless by the conflict. Sergiy was a loving husband, an affectionate father to our daughter Alla, a cherished brother, an adoring uncle to his nephews, and a loyal friend," his wife Olga shared.
The fallen warrior was laid to rest at the Alley of Glory of Sabariv Cemetery in Vinnytsia. At home, he was eagerly anticipated by his parents, wife, daughter, extended family, and friends.
