Busted: Suspected Russian Agent Accused of Killing General Moskalyk
A suspected Russian agent has been taken into custody in regards to the bombing that took the life of Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia, Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalyk. This information was disclosed by Svetlana Petrenko, the official spokesperson of the Russian Investigative Committee.
The Man Behind the Explosion: Who is Ignat Kuzin?
The FSB of Russia has reported that a native Russian, Ignat Kuzin, born in 1983, is suspected of having links to Ukrainian special services and a residence permit in Ukraine. He is the individual who's been detained on terrorism charges in connection to Moskalyk's death. Kuzin is currently undergoing interrogation as part of the criminal investigation.
The Deadly Attack in Balashikha: How It Happened
Russian intelligence suggests Kuzin rented an apartment in the same building where Moskalyk resided before making a run for Turkey on April 19. It's reported that he was apprehended in Istanbul and later extradited back to Moscow.
Investigations reveal that Kuzin is believed to have "purchased" and rigged the car that later detonated, causing the explosion that claimed Moskalyk's life. Sources indicate that the components of the improvised explosive device (IED) were procured from a cache set up by Kyiv's special services in the Moscow region. The explosive device was remotely detonated from Ukrainian territory, according to the FSB's Public Relations Center.
The incident occurred on April 25, 2025, when a car caught fire and exploded in Balashikha, a region of Moscow. At the time of the blast, Moskalyk was passing by the car, resulting in his death. Moscow prosecutors have initiated a criminal case, charging violations related to terrorism and illegal possession of explosives or explosive devices.
