Ukrainian President Zelensky makes a surprise trip to Poland.

In an unexpected move, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a trip to Poland, unfolding the news on social media. "On my way back to Ukraine, I found myself in Lublin, where I was privileged to present two remarkable Poles, volunteers Bianka Zalewska and Damian Duda, with Ukrainian state awards," he posted.

Shining a Light on Heroes

While in Lublin, Zelensky honored two individuals who have been pillars of support for Ukraine. Notably, journalist Bianca Zalewska, who has been reporting events in Ukraine since 2014, and Polish medic Damian Dude.

Zalewska has been instrumental in providing humanitarian aid to Ukrainians and transporting wounded children to Polish hospitals. On the other hand, Dude gathered a team of medics to help wounded soldiers near the frontline. He also established a fund to assist medics, provide training, and offer crucial medical assistance[1].

Standing Together for Europe

The Ukrainian President expressed his gratitude for Poland's unwavering support, "I thank Poland for its invaluable support and solidarity that helps defend freedom of our entire Europe!"[2]. This visit and recognition accorded to the Polish volunteers underscore the strong bond between the two nations.
