21:39 Ukraine: Operation of Zaporizhzhia NPP Too Dangerous for Russians

Russian troops have occupied the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant since March 2022 and later shut it down due to security concerns. As Petro Kotin, CEO of Energoatom, explained to The Guardian, the resumption of operations would be too risky for Russia. In peacetime, Ukraine might take up to two years to regain control of the facility, dealing with major problems like insufficient cooling water, personnel, and power supply before safe power generation can begin again. The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, Europe's largest reactor, remains a crucial factor in all negotiations intended to end the war in Ukraine.

19:07 Zelensky Calls on World to Push Back on Putin

Zelensky has urged the international community to increase pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin in light of ongoing Russian air strikes. In a post on X, Zelensky stated, "These attacks are Putin's response to all international diplomatic efforts. Every one of our partners – the United States, Europe, the entire world – has seen that Russia wants to continue the war and killing. Therefore, pressure must not ease."

18:33 US: No Tariffs on Russia Due to Ukraine Talks

The absence of tariffs on Russian imports has been explained by the US government as a result of ongoing negotiations over the Ukraine conflict. Director of the National Economic Council Kevin Hassett told ABC News that it would be "inappropriate to throw in a new issue in the middle of these negotiations." The US President has chosen not to mix the two issues, Hassett added. This doesn't necessarily mean Russia is being treated differently, but rather that the focus is solely on negotiations with Russia to end the war against Ukraine.
