Ukrainian President Selenskyy reveals plans for weapons exports in the year 2026

The conflict known as the 'War in Ukraine,' which has been ongoing since 2014, has strained relations between Ukraine and Russia and resulted in widespread destruction and displacement of people. The war, primarily between the Ukrainian government and pro-Russian separatists, has led to a significant increase in military presence in the region and has been a source of international concern.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced plans for weapons exports in the coming year to fund the country's own defense needs. Kyiv is planning new defense cooperation abroad due to constant Russian air strikes, and the city of Kyiv is in need of constant new funding for its defense needs.

Zelenskyy emphasizes that Ukraine will not engage in 'weapon charity' and will only help allies who have supported Ukraine. The countries considered by Ukraine as potential buyers for planned arms exports are prioritized as follows: first the United States, second European partners, and third other states interested in Ukrainian weapons that have supported Kyiv, with reliable controls to prevent technology from reaching Russia or its allies.

The development of a weapons export concept is planned within the next two weeks. Excess production of loitering munitions, anti-tank weapons, and certain other types of weapons has been noted. An increase in drone production for the front will be achieved through controlled exports.

The export of weapons will be subject to 'reliable control' to prevent Ukrainian technologies from falling into Russian or its allies' hands. Zelenskyy states that the US, European partners, and other states that have supported Ukraine will be prioritized for exports and cooperation.

The war in Ukraine has resulted in thousands of casualties and has been a long and difficult battle for the Ukrainian government. Despite this, Ukraine has been defending itself against Russian aggression for over three and a half years, receiving unprecedented financial and military support from Western allies.

As the conflict continues, it is clear that Ukraine will continue to prioritize its own defense needs and seek support from allies who have shown their commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty and independence. The planned weapons exports are a testament to Ukraine's determination to protect its territory and its people, and to ensure that it has the resources it needs to continue to do so.
