Ukrainian President Selenskyy declares plans for arms exports in 2026

In the face of a prolonged conflict against Russian invasion, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that the country will use weapons exports to finance its defense needs for the coming year.

The Ukrainian government plans to prioritise cooperation in arms exports with the USA, followed by European partners, and then other supportive states. Germany is among the countries providing military support, including financing Ukrainian weapons production, while nations like the Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, and Slovakia have been involved in arms deliveries or are considering future cooperation.

Ukraine's top priority remains delivering weapons to the front and replenishing its own arsenals. To ensure the safety of the weapons, reliable control measures will be implemented to prevent them from falling into the hands of Russian or its allies.

Examples of excess weapons, such as seed drones, anti-tank weapons, and certain other types, may be included in these exports. However, it's important to note that no new information about these excess weapons was provided.

Ukraine will not provide weapons to those who did not support Kyiv during the conflict. The country is also developing an export concept for weapons within the next two weeks.

President Zelenskyy stated that controlled exports will increase the production of drones for the front. Domestic production of certain weapons already exceeds Ukraine's own needs, though no information about these controlled exports of drones was mentioned.

Throughout the conflict, Ukraine has received unprecedented financial and weapons support from Western allies. The deliveries of weapons to the front and the replenishment of its own arsenals remain the top priority for Ukraine. The constant Russian air attacks and the need for constant new funds have prompted Ukraine to plan new defense cooperation abroad.
