Ukrainian officials tour Hyundai facilities to strengthen partnerships for post-conflict rebuilding efforts
The Ukrainian government recently sent a delegation to South Korea for a visit that focused on capacity-building training and discussions about potential collaboration in Ukraine's postwar rebuilding.
The delegation, which included more than 10 senior officials, visited the construction equipment campus of HD Hyundai in Ulsan. Among the officials were Marina Denysiuk, Kostiatyn Kovalchuk, Sukhomlyn Serhii, representatives from the Mykolaiv regional government, and members of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
The programme, which began on Monday and ended on Sunday, included tours of HD Hyundai's key business sites. The delegation visited the excavator production lines at HD Hyundai XiteSolution's campus, HD Hyundai Electric's transformer production facilities, and HD Hyundai Construction Equipment's smart factory.
The visit was part of the Construction Machinery Capacity-Building Training Program, organised by KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency), and its Global Training Center is located in Chungcheong Province, South Korea.
HD Hyundai XiteSolution's CEO, Cho Young-chul, stated that the reconstruction partnership focuses on sharing knowledge and training to lay the groundwork for recovery and foster a long-lasting partnership.
Prior to their recent merger, HD Hyundai Infracore and HD Hyundai Construction Equipment held the first and second positions, respectively, in Ukraine's construction machinery market. The companies have since deepened ties with the Ukrainian government through equipment supply and technical cooperation for reconstruction projects.
In light of this, HD Hyundai's construction equipment division is considering supplying vocational schools in Ukraine with training equipment such as excavators and virtual reality simulators. The company also aims to use its Global Training Center in North Chungcheong Province to build an education consortium in Ukraine.
This consortium will offer degree programs, equipment-specific courses, multilingual content, instructor training, and on-site programs in Ukraine. The hope is that this will help to equip Ukrainian workers with the skills necessary for the reconstruction efforts.
The visit concluded with the Ukrainian government officials expressing their appreciation for the knowledge and expertise shared by HD Hyundai, and both parties looking forward to a fruitful partnership in the future.
