Bravo, Chief Sergeant Volodymyr Samson, took his final breath in a Dnipro hospital on September 18, 2022. Though initial attempts to enlist in military school fell through, he persisted, venturing into military service, armed forces, security structures within banks and big corporations. His last post was with Nova Poshta in Zaporizhzhia. A fishing enthusiast and firearm aficionado, his passion for both remained undiminished.
In 2015, mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Volodymyr plunged headfirst into the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO). His war-torn journeys took him to numerous hotspots, and later, he committed to a contract. On the chilling morning of February 24, 2022, Volodymyr stood tall against adversaries at Ukraine's eastern borders, thwarting their advance with precision artillery fire. He commanded a self-propelled artillery battery in the 55th Separate Artillery Brigade "Zaporizhzhia Sich."
Also known as "mom" by his troops, Volodymyr's ranks extended far beyond the boundaries of his family. His brigade and comrades were as much a part of his life as his actual relatives. A towering figure, both physically and in character, he was calm, compassionate, and craved the soothing tranquility of home.
A week prior to his heroic departure, Volodymyr was honored with the Order of Courage III degree. Posthumously, he was bestowed with the Order of Courage II degree.
Volodymyr was laid to rest in the tranquil landscapes of Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
