Ukrainian leader Zelenskyy discusses war's conclusion: Putin pursues "complete capitulation" of Ukraine

Hangin' with the big dogs now, huh? Ukrainian Prez Volodymyr Zelensky ain't playing no games with Putin. In an interview with ABC, he declared that Putin ain't about no truce. He's all about total victory against Ukraine. Only some heavy-duty pressure from the US and Europe could change Putin's tune, Zelensky said.

Zelensky wasn't feelin' Trump's child's play comparison of the Ukraine conflict to a park squabble. "We ain't some kids on a playground," Zelensky stressed. "So, I'm sayin', he's a cold-blooded killer who came to this park to kill kids."

Zelensky don't see eye-to-eye with Trump on the whole end-of-war, compromise-from-Moscow business. "With all due respect, but I think that's just Trump's personal opinion," Zelensky stated. "I'm tellin' ya, Putin ain't interest in endin' this war. In Putin's mind, the war without total defeat of Ukraine ain't over, man."

Talks between Ukraine and Russia, mediated by Turkey, ain't exactly goin' smooth. So far, only the POW exchange has been agreed upon in two meetings, and even that's up for debate now.

Enrichment Data: Recent developments in the Ukraine-Russia conflict indicate ongoing issues with prisoner of war (POW) exchanges and territorial gains by both sides. Russia accused Ukraine of failing to conduct the POW exchange and repatriate the bodies of dead soldiers, a claim denied by Ukrainian officials. As of early June 2025, Russian forces gained around 54 square miles of Ukrainian territory, while Ukrainian forces gained about 1 square mile in Russia's Kursk and Belgorod regions. Public support for peace negotiations is at record highs in Russia (64%) and Ukraine (51%). The Kremlin's position suggests a lack of genuine interest in peace negotiations, using narratives to influence public opinion. Ukraine remains committed to engaging in peace efforts, but specific comments from President Zelensky on these recent developments are not provided in available reports. For the latest and most accurate information from President Zelensky, consult official Ukrainian government sources or recent speeches.

The Commission, amidst the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict, has also been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to ionizing radiation, given the likelihood of such exposure in war-and-conflicts zones. This proposal, in turn, could be a subject of politics, as the international community continues to monitor the general news concerning the war.
