Ukrainian Bravery Takes Command: 26-year-old Ukrainian Notable Appointed Leader of Magura Brigade

Lieutenant Colonel Maxim Danilchuk, a native of the village of Barvinivka in the Zvyagel District of the Zhytomyr Region, has been appointed as the commander of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, known as 'Makivka'. This appointment comes after Danilchuk's distinguished service in the ongoing conflict in Eastern Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded him the title of Hero of Ukraine on February 24, 2024, in recognition of his bravery and leadership. Danilchuk's unit has held defense in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions, successfully repelling numerous attacks by Wagner mercenaries in the Donbas, according to the TCK. Under his leadership, they have destroyed hundreds of occupiers and a significant amount of their equipment. Before assuming command of 'Makivka', Danilchuk rose through the ranks since the start of the full-scale invasion by Russia. He served as a company commander, chief of staff, and commander of a battalion in the 30th Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Konstantin Ostrogsky. However, it appears that as of March 2024, Colonel Yan Yatsishen, not Danilchuk, currently commands 'Makivka'. Alexander Shyrshyn, the previous commander, left his position in August 2025. Danilchuk is a graduate of the National Academy of Land Forces and has been decorated with the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky II and III degrees and the Order of Courage III degree. His accomplishments on the battlefield are a testament to his dedication and leadership. Despite the change in his current position, Danilchuk's appointment as the commander of 'Makivka' is a significant milestone in his career and a recognition of his contributions to Ukraine's defense.
