Trump Reacts to Ukrainian Strike on Russia: "Pretty Strong"

Ukrainian Attack Impresses Trump

In the midst of Ukraine's defense against the Russian invasion, US President Trump has been skeptical about President Zelensky's position. However, a series of bold moves by Ukraine might have caught his attention.

According to a report by Axios, the US PresidentDonald Trump was reportedly impressed by the Ukrainian drone attacks on several Russian military bases. Trump described the action as "pretty strong," and one source revealed he found it "crazy."

A Trump advisor shared with Axios that from an international perspective, "a Chihuahua just gave a big punch to the much bigger dog." Yet, Trump is said to expect a firm response from Vladimir Putin, the report added.

Post-a call with the Russian president on Wednesday, Trump expressed on his Truth Social platform that Putin had warned him to respond to the Ukrainian attacks. publicly, Trump has remained silent about the attack, with his White House spokesperson declining to comment on the matter. Two US government representatives told Reuters that up to 20 Russian combat aircraft may have been hit, with about 10 possibly being destroyed.

Not a New Surprise for Ukraine

Trump has repeatedly stated that Zelensky has "no cards in hand." However, Ukraine has consistently made headlines with surprising defense strategies. Examples include sinking the Moskva, a flagship ship of the Black Sea fleet, and attacking the Crimean Bridge.

Ukraine has inflicted substantial losses on Russian forces, decimating thousands of tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery systems. As per a recent analysis by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), the ratio has been favoring Ukraine since January 2024, with a ratio between 5:1 and 2:1.

CSIS also suggests that Russia is making slow progress with heavy personnel losses. "While some politicians and experts argue that Russia has the upper hand in the Ukraine war, the data indicates that the Russian military has underperformed on the battlefield," the report concludes.
