Ukrainian and Estonian foreign ministers plan their subsequent joint actions

In a significant development, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced on X, as reported by news agency Ukrinform, that Ukraine is actively working towards ending the ongoing conflict with Russia through diplomatic negotiations and coordinated international pressure.

This shift in approach reflects a stark change in public opinion, with 69% of Ukrainians now favouring a negotiated peace over continuing the fight until victory, according to recent polls. This change in sentiment has encouraged Ukrainian President Zelenskyy to signal his openness to renewed direct talks with Russia.

Ukraine's key partners in these efforts are the European Union, the UK, and the US. While specific details of recent coordination with Estonia, the UK, Latvia, and Finland are not yet publicly disclosed, it is clear that these countries play a critical role in Ukraine's diplomatic and economic strategies.

The ongoing heavy fighting and attacks suggest that, despite diplomatic conversations and public desire for peace, military tensions remain high. However, the emphasis for Ukraine and its partners appears to be on sustaining international unity and pressure while preparing for potential negotiation outcomes.

In a series of meetings over the weekend, Minister Sybiha discussed diplomatic efforts for a lasting peace with the foreign minister of Latvia, aligned positions with the UK foreign secretary ahead of key meetings, and coordinated steps with Finland's foreign minister ahead of the meeting of the coalition of the willing. He also emphasised the importance of a ceasefire for peace efforts to succeed and discussed ways to maintain transatlantic unity and increase pressure on Moscow to end the war.

In addition, Minister Sybiha spoke about strengthening Ukraine with unspecified parties, although the details of this are not yet clear. What is certain is that Ukraine is committed to ending the conflict through diplomatic means and is working closely with its Western allies to achieve this goal.
