TANGKAK, June 10 - In a twist of strange events, an unemployed man, Mohamad Khairul Azmi Ithnin, found himself caught up in a web of alleged crimes. The 32-year-old was formally charged for the brutal murder of his wife, Iecah Junus, in Taman Cahaya, Bukit Gambir, and setting nine vehicles on fire at his in-laws' residence.
During his initial appearance in the Magistrate's Court, Mohamad showed no defense against the charges. The case falls under the High Court's jurisdiction, and no plea was recorded. The accusation of causing Iecah's death, allegedly by slashing her throat, is framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, carrying a mandatory death penalty or up to 40 years' imprisonment and 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction.
