Ukraine's President Zelensky expresses doubt about Poland's capabilities to protect citizens from a large-scale Russian assault
In the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, the Ukrainian forces have shown remarkable resilience in countering aerial threats. President Volodymyr Zelensky recently made a statement regarding Poland's potential ability to protect its people in a massive aerial attack, clarifying that his remarks were not intended as a message to Poland.
Last week, almost two dozen Russian drones violated Polish airspace, entering from Ukraine and Belarus. In response, Poland successfully shot down around 20 drones over its territory, according to reports. This incident followed a significant attack involving 810 drones, where Ukraine's Air Force and air defense units, along with mobile groups, fighters, and intercepting drones, collectively managed to shoot down 700 drones.
Despite these impressive figures, President Zelensky acknowledged that Ukraine does not possess the same level of capability as Poland in terms of defending against drone attacks. He stated that Ukraine does not have missiles or ballistics, in comparison to Poland's resources. However, he also emphasised that Ukraine could train and educate military personnel from other partner countries, as they have been doing since the beginning of the war.
The President's comments about Poland's potential inability to protect its people in a massive aerial attack were clarified as not being a message to Poland. He acknowledged that Poland is not currently at war and is therefore not prepared for such attacks.
In conclusion, the Ukrainian forces have demonstrated their prowess in countering drone attacks, successfully shooting down hundreds of drones in recent incidents. While Ukraine may not have the same resources as some neighbouring countries, they are committed to helping other nations defend themselves, as shown by their efforts in training military personnel since the start of the war.
