Ukraine's Bilochka kindergarten reopens after €490K EU-funded renovation
The Bilochka kindergarten in Verkhnia Bilka village, Lviv Oblast, has reopened after a major €490,000 renovation. This facility, the only kindergarten in the community, now offers improved access to early childhood education for local families. The upgrades were funded through the European Investment Bank's (EIB) Ukraine Early Recovery Programme, marking another step in the EU's ongoing support for essential social infrastructure in Ukraine. Work on the Bilochka kindergarten began in September 2024 and finished in November 2025. The renovation included full insulation, new utility systems, and modern equipment. Two playgrounds, outdoor lighting, and accessibility features were also added to improve safety and usability. The building now has a heat generator to ensure warmth during power or heating outages. With space for 40 children and 13 staff members, the kindergarten can better serve the village's needs. This project is one of five recently completed in Lviv Oblast under the EIB's programme. Others include St. Luke's Hospital, Preschool No. 7 Dzvinochok, the school in Sukhovolia, and the Vinochok preschool. In total, the EU and EIB have invested in 15 repair and upgrade projects across the region to restore vital services. The renovated Bilochka kindergarten now provides a safer, more efficient learning environment for young children. Its reopening ensures continued access to early education in Verkhnia Bilka, while the EIB's broader programme supports the recovery of key infrastructure in Lviv Oblast.
