Ukraine prepares for daylight saving time shift on March 29, 2026

Ukraine will switch to summer time on March 29, 2026. At 03:00 local time, clocks will move forward by one hour to 04:00. This seasonal adjustment has been a regular practice in the country since 1996. The change will bring longer daylight hours and shorter nights. Most modern devices, like smartphones and computers, update the time automatically. However, older mechanical clocks and some appliances may still require manual adjustment.

The Ukrainian government has kept the current system in place, despite ongoing debates elsewhere. In the EU, discussions about abolishing daylight saving time have dragged on for years. The European Parliament voted to end the practice in 2019, but member states have yet to agree on a permanent solution. A 2018 EU survey, with 4.6 million responses, showed 84% support for scrapping the time change—though the results were not fully representative. Ukrainian officials recommend adjusting clocks in the evening before bed or first thing in the morning. The transition always occurs on the last Sunday of March, ensuring consistency year after year.

The time change will take effect as scheduled, with no plans to alter the system in Ukraine. While automated devices handle the shift smoothly, manual checks are advised for older technology. The country will continue observing seasonal time adjustments for the foreseeable future.
